ImmersART
About
ImmersART is a micro-grant program administered by the Fédération culturelle canadienne-française (FCCF) and the Department of Canadian Heritage.
This program runs from 2024 to 2028 and finances artistic, cultural and heritage activities in French in junior and senior high schools that offer French immersion programs in Canada, in all the provinces and territories.
This program is part of the Action Plan for Official Languages 2023-2028: Protection – Promotion – Collaboration. It is related to the Community Cultural Action Fund.
Dans sa phase pilote de 2024-2028, ImmersART sera ouvert aux écoles d’immersion française intermédiaires et secondaires, dans l’ensemble des provinces et territoires canadiens incluant le Québec.
Why ImmersART?
The ImmersART program was launched to promote arts, culture and heritage in French in immersion schools. The goal of ImmersART is to:
Support
Support French learning for immersion students by offering them the opportunity to enjoy artistic, cultural or heritage experiences in French.
Introduce
Introduce the students to the wealth and diversity of Franco-Canadian artistic, cultural and heritage expression, to enhance their sense of belonging to the Francophonie.
Foster
Foster the creation of connections between the students and the local, regional and pan-Canadian Francophone culture and increase their opportunities to interact with Francophone culture.
Tighten
Tighten the links between schools and Francophone artistic and cultural organizations by encouraging them to collaborate.
Stimulate
Stimulate vitality and nurture the growth of an inclusive, open-minded pan-Canadian Francophonie.
How does the program work?
- The program authorizes a micro-grant of $1,500 per year and per school to finance one or more activities.
- A distance premium is available for activities planned at eligible schools.
- Higher micro-subsidies are granted for activities in designated schools in remote regions and in the territories.
- The activities must take place during the school year, between September and June.
- The micro-subsidies are granted to Francophone non-profit artistic or cultural organizations from Canada, Acadia and Québec.
- A non-profit organization can apply for multiple micro-subsidies if it holds activities in multiple schools.
- To take part in the program, a school and a non-profit organization plan an activity in French together.
- The non-profit organization submits its financing application through ImmersART’s registration platform.
- The application is automatically transmitted to the FCCF and an education authority (e.g., school administration or school board).
- The FCCF verifies the application.
- The education authority approves the financing application and the activity.
- The FCCF transfers the funds to the non-profit organization.
- The school participates in the subsidized activity.
- After the activity, the non-profit organization publishes a review (photos and a summary posted on social media).
